I put in 2 hours weaving end on the Granny Waves blanket today, and the results are... well, I don't like how the edges where I'm weaving them in look, so I'm definitely going to put an edging on it. It'll probably be a simple picot edging, but I am happy that the weaving is be going quicker than it did with the other two projects. Anyway, here is the latest.

 

So yeah. Lots faster. I'm over half done the weaving in of ends. And then there will be a little bit of extra crocheting and it'll be done! We'll see how long it takes to finish it off, though. Now it's on to the next project. Ice Chip Mitts.

I have 5 days to complete this project, and I'm interested to see how long it will take me exactly, because I've only made mitts a couple times before. Anyways, we'll see what tomorrow brings!

So because the Granny Waves blanket is a blanket, even though it is a baby blanket, I decided to get a head start on it. I very much doubt that I can get it done on Jan 1st even though I did start early. I am really liking how it's coming together so far. The baby blue and white together have a great icy sort of melding to them. The yarn is also super soft, which I love.

Anyway, this is how much I've gotten done so far;

It is about 12-13 inches long right now, and it's taken me just over five hours to get this much done. The width is the 38 inches that the pattern calls for, and so if I decide to go for the square (I might make it longer as I will probably have some yarn left over) I'm about 1/3 done. In that case, it's probably going to take almost 15-16 hours to complete the whole thing, provided that I don't end up with serious snags that I have to work through. I really don't see how it's supposed to be done in two days! Unless of course the reason it's put on Dec 31 and Jan 1 is because I'm supposed to spend New Year's Eve crocheting.

So my calendar starts on December 31, with a Granny Waves blanket by Bernat.

The pattern calls for Berat Baby Coordinates, but I couldn't find colours that I particurily liked, so I'll be using Gernat's Baby Luv. (PSA, a percentage of proceeds from Baby Luv sales go to the Children's Miracle Netwok.) I chose baby blue (lot 16054) and white (lot 160562).

It's a super soft yarn that's 100% acrylic, and contains a little less yarn than the Baby Coordinates, so the blanket is probably going to end up slightly smaller than the 38 inch square the pattern calls for, but I think that will be fine. If need be, I can just add a trim around it afterwards. I like those better than raw edges anyway.

The calendar only gives me two days to do this whole blanket... we'll see how well that goes!
