So my crocheted fish isn't looking especially fishlike right now, more like an alien creature. I hope that when it's done it'll look better though. Right now I have the top and bottom fins done, and I'm working on his tail. I'm going to have to go get some red yarn sometime because Prince Thunderbolt had some red on him.

Anyway, here is what I have so far.

Tuesday 30 May 2017

My new project is one that I'll be making up a pattern as I go along. My fish died recently, so I decided to crochet his image that I'll put on a blanket.

So this is what I have so far. The 'face' part is a little weird right now, but I think that will look better once that end is woven in.

Monday 29 May 2017

The Ocean Waves Scarf is done! I love how it turned out, an it's a simple pattern too. Great for beginners.

I really enjoyed making this scarf, and I am definitely going to work with Caron Cake yarn in the future. It's so soft! I want to make myself a blanket out of it.

So I'm not sure what I'll be starting tomorrow, but I'll have something to do. I hope to see you back!

Sunday 28 May 2017

Day two of the Ocean Waves scarf, and I'm over half done! I really enjoy how the skien is looking now

Because it's more flat than long, unlike traditional skeins, this has managed to stay standing even though most of its volume has been taken out. I imagine it will collapse soon, though. Only three colors left!

And here is what is done so far. I love how these colors go together. It looks so pretty. Again, this is mixed berry Caron Cake. I must say I'm kind of in love with this yarn. Not only do I love the colors and how it's put together but (I have to say it again) it's so soft! It's absolutely fantastic and I love it.

Saturday 27 May 2017

Kay, so my moving date has been pushed back, and since practically all my crocheting stuff, including the calendar, is packed, so I'm looking at internet patterns for more stuff to do. Right now I'm making a scarf from a Caron Cake. I've been wanting to use this yarn for a while, since I love the idea of them. It's 80% acrylic and 20% wool, and is really soft. I love how it feels. I'm using the Mixed Berry color scheme.

The label has a free pattern on it, but I'm going to make the Ocean Waves Scarf pattern that I found online by Shehnaaz Afzar at http://crochetdreamz.blogspot.ca/ I'll be checking out more of their free patterns for sure!
The site I got the pattern from is https://www.allfreecrochet.com/Scarves/Ocean-Waves-Scarf

And that's what I have so far! I love the way the colors work together, and as I said the yarn itself is very soft. It could be used for a lot of different projects, and it won't bug the skin like some worsted weight yarns do. It would even be great for baby blankets.

Got the extra stuff on the cardigan done!

So these three pictures are all of the same yarn, with just different lightings. They all look really different, too. I have no idea why, either.... thoughts?

Thursday 25 May 2017

Hello there! So the cardigan that I made a while ago that I was afraid would be too short... is too short. So I need to add some more rounds. I'm planning on putting 5 more pattern rounds to get it done. I was afraid of the top part being too thick, but it doesn't seem to be.

So that is how long it is under the armpit. I should have guessed from that it would be far too short. :( but it should be good once I've added to it.

Crochet Beanie for Beginners - Adult Sizes

Another video from YouTube. I'm exhausted. I nearly forgot to do this altogether. Moving creates a lot of stress! hahaha

Crochet Quick Vid #3: Three ways to make a slip knot

Okay, so I'm still packing and between that and work, I'm not really able to do much crocheting at the moment. So today I am going to embed a video by Stitch Stich Boom on YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4tUXtbQupM here's a link to the video
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoKnFdLn8ct6r2o2_IUF0Aw a link to their channel

Slip knots are really important when crocheting, because you an adjust them to the size of the crochet hook, and in the end it will look better, rather than if you did something like a double knot, which would end up with a big extra loop on the end. So here's a little video showing 3 ways to make it. Enjoy!

Less crochet, more packing!

The house is looking pretty empty, but the moving time is moving up. I know this has nothing to do with crochet, but I just need to share, even if it is screaming into the void. I thought I had everything under control and it was all going to be just fine. Now it feels like nothing is under control and I'm getting really, really nervous. It's most just because I look at everything and it seems like nothing is done, even though a lot has been done. I need to just remember to breathe.

Sunday 21 May 2017

Over half done the pretty pink collar/lace edging. I'm quite enjoying this pattern. It's simple to do and is very repetitive, so it doesn't call for a lot of attention constantly paid to it. I really like how it's turning out.

I've been watching a lot of I Love Lucy while doing this project. I love that show. It's timeless.

Saturday 20 May 2017

The Pretty Pink Collar was started today. I'm making it out of some leftover Bernat Softee baby yarn I had. The pattern was designed by Loretta Schepp.

I've gotten two rows completed so far. It's a bit bigger than called for by the pattern, but I am going to put it as lace on a little girl' skirt I think, so that's okay.

Friday 19 May 2017

Gonna work on this next. Found some pink yarn that I haven't packed,so I'm going to do this one.

Thursday 18 May 2017

Busy day today, but not busy with crocheting!

Wednesday 17 May 2017

Another update! I am at just between 23 and 24 inches on this blanket. I have one more row in the pattern, and then I think I'm going to flip it backwards so that it will be somewhat symmetrical. I don't know, though. I don't think that this is a proper blanket wool. It's too thick and heavy. It would make good winter hats and scarves, though.

Tuesday 16 May 2017

20 inches long now. I'm probably going to have to double the pattern to get the length I want though!

Monday 15 May 2017

The Stella Hat is done! And it took less than 50 grams of yarn.

It is very small, probably only big enough for a newborn or doll, but it's got quite a bit of stretch to it and there is a larger pattern size available to use. I think it turned out to be pretty cute.

So that's the hook I used and the leftover yarn. Like I said it was given to me, but it's only like $1.25 at the dollar store. It's a bit rough, but it's a pretty color. I'd probably use it more for a doll than a baby, although it's not super rough. I'm not sure.

Well, I have something else to talk about tonight.

Knots like these turn up occasionally in yarn. So far I've found them in nearly every yarn I've used. They're a bit annoying because you have to cut them out and then you have more ends to weave in but if you don't then there's this ugly knob where the knot is. There's no way to tell if a big skein of yarn has them or not, either. But it happens, and it's easy enough to work around.

Tomorrow will be the blanket again!

Sunday 14 May 2017

Update on the hat!

It's made from crafter's square knitting yarn. 100%acrylic
So I was given a skien of dollar store yarn, and now I have another project to show, rather than just the blanket. This is the Stella Hat, designed for children by Danyel Pink of Crazy Socks Crochet.

I know I should have posted this last night, but I just ended up completely exhausted and not wanting to do anything, so I didn't You'll get two updates today, though!

Friday 12 May 2017

Three inches added! So it's now 16 inches. Which is pretty good, considering that my hand is starting to cramp up from working with the bulky fabric. I really ought to have used a larger hook with it, then it wouldn't be so difficult to work with.

Anyway, I'm having a little difficulty keeping the ends straight. It's a long blanket, so I've been adding and dropping stitches a little, resulting in a bit of a wavy edge

You can see it here. While it's not terrible it is noticeable. I've had problems like this before, and I think I'll probably just end up putting a fringe on the edges when I'm done. It does wonders to hide small flaws like this. I put fringes on the first blanket I crocheted for myself to cover up a similar problem, and five years later it's still strong on it. So I'll probably end up doing that with this one too.

Thursday 11 May 2017

The blanket now measures 53 inches by 13 inches. With this double yarn technique I'm using I'm getting about an inch per row that I'm making. I've done 12 rows, which means I'm getting a little more than an inch per row. So probably about 40 or just under 40 more rows to get done. It's really pretty though.  I love it!

So how this is working is that I started it with red and purple

Then red and gray

Then purple and gray

and then I'll repeat!

Wednesday 10 May 2017

I forgot to say what yarn I'm working with yesterday. I'm using LionBrand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick. Its 79% acrylic, 20% wool, and 1% other fibre. I really like it, a lot better than some of the other yarns I've used. I haven't used LionBrand before, but it really is thick and it's working up really quickly. The skiens don't have a tonne of yarn in them, but like I said it is a thick yarn, and it's very warm.

The colors I'm using are 305 galaxy 302 Cabernet and 149 charcoal.

Tuesday 9 May 2017

Okay, so I was a little stupid and packed up a bunch of my yarn stash, so the "smaller projects" idea... a little out the window at this point. However, I do still have some yarn, and I've started (yay!) another blanket.

This is the Quick and Easy Afghan by Sue W. Thompson of Head Huggers

I'm not exactly making this one though. It's basically three strands held together and half double crochets throughout. The yarn I'm using is too bulky for three strands without getting a bigger hook, so I'm only doing two strands and I'm doing a double crochet to make it go faster. It's going to be super easy, although it's still bulky and my hand is getting a little cramped.

It'll end up being a very thick afghan too! Right now I'm thinking of a square, although I also might want to make it a full-on twin sized blanket. We'll see how quickly I get tired of it LOL

Monday 8 May 2017

Rustic cloth is finished... and so is the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton ultra soft, "moondance" variegation, 340g/12 oz, approx. 556m/608yds.

I didn't end up having enough ran to make it a perfect square, but it's pretty close. I also used the little leftover ends to make a little loop so it can hang on hooks and nails and whatnot. I really like it.  I'm very fond of this color scheme. The cloth itself has a great texture to it, too. I'll enjoy using this!

Sunday 7 May 2017

Half done the rustic wash cloth!

I want to make it square, and lengthwise it's about nine inches, and right now it's sitting at about 4.5 inches. I really like working with these variegated colors, because it really makes cool patterns. The only downside is that I don't really have control over it! Still, I really like this so far. I hope to get it done tomorrow!
